PRODUCT TEST: Thor Phase Gear Line

Written by John

One of the major players in motocross apparel, Thor has long produced one of the best mid-level lines with its Phase gear.  As a testament to the value of Thor’s Phase line you only have to look at the use of it by the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki Team, as well as many of KTM’s top off-road racers.  When Thor go-to-girl Jamie Lilly recently sent the 2008 version of the Phase. Beginning with the Phase gloves, the very first benefit I noticed was the excellent fit and flexibility.  Once on my bike and riding, there was absolutely no bunching up – and no blisters!

I really appreciated that the Clarino palm material went over the index and middle finger (as well as the thumbs) making it much easier to keep my fingers on the brake and clutch levers. Another benefit to the Phase glove was the ventilation holes in the finger panels, which I felt added extra air-conditioning. Thor also added a nicely done Velcro closure system, and silicone finger tips for better lever control. For more on this story please visit www.amamotocross.com

Speeding star cops ticket

Written by www.stuff.co.nz

A Nelson policeman has done what some of the fastest motocross riders in the world couldn't do this year - catch a speeding Josh Coppins. The highway patrol officer was patrolling on the Moutere Highway last week when he clocked the international motocross star riding a Triumph motorcycle at 122kmh. When the officer recognised the Motueka-born Coppins, he asked for his autograph, apparently for his son who is a big fan, and then promptly wrote out a $170 ticket for speeding.
